Job, a new perspective, part 3

In part 2, we looked at the thummim, one of the hidden stones in the breastplate of the priest’s garment that indicated God’s integrity.

Now we will see the significance of the urim, which is only used 7 times in the bible, the number of spiritual perfection.

It is also one of the hidden stones in the breastplate of the priest’s garment that is associated with the thummim.

Exodus 28:30
And thou shalt put in the breastplate of judgment the Urim and the Thummim; and they shall be upon Aaron’s heart, when he goeth in before the Lord: and Aaron shall bear the judgment of the children of Israel upon his heart before the Lord continually.

Leviticus 8:8
And he put the breastplate upon him: also he put in the breastplate the Urim and the Thummim.

Numbers 27:21
And he shall stand before Eleazar the priest, who shall ask counsel for him after the judgment of Urim before the Lord: at his word shall they go out, and at his word they shall come in, both he, and all the children of Israel with him, even all the congregation.

Deuteronomy 33:8
And of Levi he said, Let thy Thummim and thy Urim be with thy holy one, whom thou didst prove at Massah, and with whom thou didst strive at the waters of Meribah;

1 Samuel 28:6
And when Saul enquired of the Lord, the Lord answered him not, neither by dreams, nor by Urim, nor by prophets.

Ezra 2:63
And the Tirshatha said unto them, that they should not eat of the most holy things, till there stood up a priest with Urim and with Thummim.

Nehemiah 7:65
And the Tirshatha said unto them, that they should not eat of the most holy things, till there stood up a priest with Urim and Thummim.

In all 7 usages, the Hebrew word urim has some enlightening truths:

THE ENLIGHTENING TRUTHS OF THE URIM

Definition of urim:

Brown-Driver-Briggs [concordance]
noun [masculine] plural region of light, East

The Hebrew word “urim” comes from the Hebrew word “ur” = flame, which comes from the Hebrew word “or” [definition below]

Strong’s Exhaustive Concordance
break give, show light en set on fire, shine
A primitive root; to be (causative, make) luminous (literally and metaphorically) — X break of day, glorious, kindle, (be, en-, give, show) light (-en, -ened), set on fire, shine.

[spock] Fascinating captain.[/spock]

Look at the connection and application of this truth in our administration of grace with Jesus Christ, the light of the world from the east.

Revelation 22:16
I Jesus have sent mine angel to testify unto you these things in the churches. I am the root and the offspring of David, and the bright and morning star.

Matthew 2:2
Saying, Where is he that is born King of the Jews? for we have seen his star in the east, and are come to worship him.

“His star” was actually the planet Jupiter, also known as the king planet. Jesus Christ is king of the Judeans.

Matthew 24:27
For as the lightning cometh out of the east, and shineth even unto the west; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.

John 12:46
I am come a light into the world, that whosoever believeth on me should not abide in darkness.

Colossians 1:27
To whom God would make known what is the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles; which is Christ in you, the hope of glory:

Philippians 2:15
That ye may be blameless and harmless, the sons of God, without rebuke, in the midst of a crooked and perverse nation, among whom ye shine as lights in the world;

God’s light always dispels the darkness!

Before we can successfully defeat the powers of this world in the spiritual competition mentioned in Ephesians 6, 3 prerequisites are in perfect order in chapter 5:

  • walking in love
  • walking in light
  • walk circumspectly

2 And walk in love, as Christ also hath loved us, and hath given himself for us an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweetsmelling savour.

8 For ye were sometimes darkness, but now are ye light in the Lord: walk as children of light:
9 (For the fruit of the Spirit is in all goodness and righteousness and truth;)

In verse 9, the word “spirit” is a mistranslation! It’s actually the Greek word photos, which means light.

15 See then that ye walk circumspectly, not as fools, but as wise,

The word “light” is used 5 times in Ephesians 5: walking in light is a prerequisite of defeating the power of darkness in Ephesians 6.

I John 1:5
This then is the message which we have heard of him, and declare unto you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all.

I John 2
8 Again, a new commandment I write unto you, which thing is true in him and in you: because the darkness is past, and the true light now shineth.
9 He that saith he is in the light, and hateth his brother, is in darkness even until now.
10 He that loveth his brother abideth in the light, and there is none occasion of stumbling in him.
11 But he that hateth his brother is in darkness, and walketh in darkness, and knoweth not whither he goeth, because that darkness hath blinded his eyes.

With Job’s wife and all three of his friends against him, he certainly had a multitude of temptations to be bitter, angry, hateful, etc against them, but he successfully resisted and defeated the negative influences by walking in light and integrity, represented by the 2 hidden stones in the breastplate, the urim and thummim.

Job certainly is a fantastic example of man’s frailties and strengths.

Lesson learned.

THE ARMOUR OF LIGHT AND THE ARMOUR OF RIGHTEOUSNESS

The Greek word “hoplon” means weapon or implement and is used either by itself or as a root word 7 times in the church epistles [Romans – Thessalonians] and 7 is the number of spiritual perfection.

Romans 13:12
The night is far spent, the day is at hand: let us therefore cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armour of light.

The urim stone hidden in the breastplate of the high priest’s garment represents God’s pure light.

This is the old testament equivalent of the armour of light in the age of grace.

The thummim stone hidden in the breastplate of the high priest’s garment represents God’s integrity and righteousness, which is the old testament equivalent to the armour of God’s righteousness in the age of grace.

II Corinthians 6:7
By the word of truth, by the power of God, by the armour of righteousness on the right hand and on the left,

The whole armour of God mentioned twice in Ephesians 6 is the new testament equivalent to what the urim and thummim represent in the old testament and includes the armour of light and the armour of righteousness.

Ephesians 6:11
Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.

Ephesians 6:13
Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.

THE COUNTERFEIT URIM & THUMMIM, JOSEPH SMITH AND THE BOOK OF MORMON

The way that people of God receive revelation from God is by the gift of holy spirit. In the old testament, it was upon them upon a condition, but in the age of grace, it is within them as incorruptible spiritual seed, the Christ within.

The gift of holy spirit was not used by Joseph Smith to translate the book of Mormon in 1830. Instead he used material objects that manifested visions in the 5-senses realm, which is the operation of devil spirits.

A few years ago, I researched the book of Mormon and wrote 3 articles on what I found: the book of mormon is a religious counterfeit of the bible!

Just look at what the book of Mormon, chapter 8, verse 12 says of itself!!

The book of Mormon openly admits it has “imperfections” in it!!

Furthermore, since the book of Mormon openly admits it has “imperfections” in it, then the following is also true:

  • Since the book of Mormon uses the plural form of the word “imperfection”, then there has to be, by definition, at least 2 imperfections in it = at least 2 lies.
  • We don’t know how many imperfections there are; what if there are 19 or 163, or even more???
  • we don’t know where they are located or distributed
  • we don’t know the severity of the errors either; do they involve whether or not you have eternal life or are they a minor technicality?
  • knowledge of the errors breeds doubt [a sign of weak believing] and confusion [a psychological weapon of the adversary], both of which are classified as rotten fruit, which can only come from a rotten tree [Matthew 7]

Compare the book of Mormon with the word of God:

Romans 12:2
And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.

So we can choose the perfect will of God in the form of the bible, or the book of Mormon, which admits it has imperfections in it.

Joseph Smith used material objects to manifest images in the 5-senses realm, which is the operation of devil spirits.
Since God declares his word, the bible, is perfect, and if the book of Mormon is the most correct book on earth, then it has to be better than perfect, which is a logical, grammatical and spiritual impossibility.

Furthermore, the phrase “most correct book” does not mean its perfect. It just means that its better than all other books, which is an obvious lie because the bible is God’s greatest work and is absolutely perfect and eternal.
