INTRODUCTION

This teaching originated from Rev. L. Craig Martindale where he taught the 3 basic forms of evil [listed below] in one of his hundreds of teachings that are linked to on my site.

The main body of this teaching is mine as all serious bible students should research the word of God and make it their own so as to be able to teach others also [Acts 17:11, the theme verse for this entire website].

We are swimming in evil these days, aren't we?

What does the bible say about all this evil?

According to the bible, there are only 3 categories or types of evil:
  1. Destructive or injurious evil
  2. Harassing and distracting evil
  3. Wasteful and unproductive evil
Its amazingly appropriate that all 3 forms of evil are biblically, numerically and spiritually remarkable as noted in each section.

DESTRUCTIVE OR INJURIOUS EVIL

Strong's # 2549 Greek word kakia.

1ST USAGE:

Matthew 6:34
Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil [kakia] thereof.

No surprise, its used 11 times in the bible.

"If ten is the number which marks the perfection of Divine order, then eleven is an addition to it, subversive of and undoing that order. If twelve is the number which marks the perfection of Divine government, then eleven falls short of it. So that whether we regard it as being 10 + 1, or 12 - 1, it is the number which marks, disorder, disorganization, imperfection, and disintegration.

There is not much concerning it in the Word of God, but what there is is significant, especially as a factor".

OTHER USAGES:

The following list of 23 very bad things listed in Romans 1 are all the consequences of a reprobate mind:

This word evil is translated maliciousness in verse 29.

Romans 1
28 And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient;
29 Being filled with all unrighteousness, fornication, wickedness, covetousness, MALICIOUSNESS; full of envy, murder, debate, deceit, MALIGNITY; whisperers,

30 Backbiters, haters of God, despiteful, proud, boasters, inventors of EVIL things, disobedient to parents,
31 Without understanding, covenantbreakers, without natural affection, implacable, unmerciful:

32 Who knowing the judgment of God, that they which commit such things are worthy of death, not only do the same, but have pleasure in them that do them.

It's interesting to note that this word is listed with at least 1 or more other bad things in 7 out of its 11 usages = 63%.

That's almost 2/3!

However, the total number of usages of all forms of the word [nouns, verbs, etc] is many dozens.

And it is the root word for a number of other similar or related words as well.

For example, in verse 29, the word "malignity" is Kakos [evil] + ethos [moral habits; behavioral patterns; Strong's #2239] and in verse 30 inventors of evil [kakon] things, so just in this one small section, the root word kakia is used 3 times out of 23, or 13%.

Interestingly, 13 just so happens to be the number of rebellion.

"Hence every occurrence of the number thirteen, and likewise of every multiple of it, stamps that with which it stands in connection with rebellion, apostasy, defection, corruption, disintegration, revolution, or some kindred idea".

Colossians 3:8
But now ye also put off all these; anger, wrath, malice, blasphemy, filthy communication out of your mouth.

James 3
5 Even so the tongue is a little member, and boasteth great things. Behold, how great a matter a little fire kindleth!
6 And the tongue is a fire, a world of iniquity: so is the tongue among our members, that it defileth the whole body, and setteth on fire the course of nature; and it is set on fire of hell.

7 For every kind of beasts, and of birds, and of serpents, and of things in the sea, is tamed, and hath been tamed of mankind:
8 But the tongue can no man tame; it is an unruly [unstable] evil, full of deadly poison.

But the tongue can no man tame; this is in reference to the natural man who who has not chosen to be a son of God; who does not have the gift of holy spirit, the incorruptible spiritual seed within.

Every normal person in the world can physically control the tongue in their mouth, so this can't be what this verse is referring to.

The usage of the word tongue is a figure of speech referring to what the tongue can do [in this context]: speak evil words.

Notice that the word fire is used 4 times in only 2 verses to describe the evil words that a person can speak!

Chapter 3 also mentions that the tongue is a deadly poison on top of the fire. This is because of the energized devil spirit power.

These fires, this deadly poison, primarily come from people who are born of the seed of the serpent. People who have sold out to the devil and have become his spiritual sons and daughters.

Some of them are celebrities.

Genesis 6:4 [amplified bible]
There were Nephilim (men of stature, notorious men) on the earth in those days—and also afterward—when the sons of God lived with the daughters of men, and they gave birth to their children. These were the mighty men who were of old, men of renown (great reputation, fame).

Its critical to clarify some things here.
  1. These are not fallen angels, which are devil spirits, also referred to by some as the watchers in the book of Enoch, another false book of the apocrypha whose purpose is to distract, deceive and confuse. I plan on an advanced study of this in a future article or video.
  2. These are not aliens from outer space.
  3. These are not some weird, hybrid animals or mysterious genetically modified beings.
How do we know?

Because verse 4 calls them "men" 5 times!

This is a very deep and advanced subject, but just to summarize and simplify, these seed of the serpent people have great genetic ability, are in leadership positions and have the love of money, wielding great power and control over societies around the world.

This is why there is so much evil and corruption in the world and it will never stop until the new heaven and earth arrive in the future.

II Peter 3
12 Looking for and hasting unto the coming of the day of God, wherein the heavens being on fire shall be dissolved, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat?
13 Nevertheless we, according to his promise, look for new heavens and a new earth, wherein dwelleth righteousness.

HARASSING & DISTRACTING EVIL

Poneros: Strong's #4190, used 79 times in the NT

"70 is another combination of two of the perfect numbers, seven and ten. We have seen something of the significance of their sum under the number seventeen; their product is no less significant.

As compared with the sum of two numbers, the product exhibits the significance of each in an intensified form.

Hence 7 x 10 signifies perfect spiritual order carried out with all spiritual power and significance. Both spirit and order are greatly emphasised".

Thus, 79 is 70 + 9, the number of finality and judgment.

So 79 is God's perfect spiritual order of judgment upon this form of evil.

1ST USAGE:

Matthew 5:11
Blessed are ye, when men shall revile you, and persecute you, and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake.

OTHER USAGES:

I John 5:19
And we know that we are of God, and the whole world lieth in wickedness.

WASTEFUL & UNPRODUCTIVE EVIL

phaulos: worthless, bad; Strong's # 5337.

Used only 6 times in the NT.

"Six is either 4 plus 2, i.e., man's world (4) with man's enmity to God (2) brought in: or it is 5 plus 1, the grace of God made of none effect by man's addition to it, or perversion, or corruption of it: or it is 7 minus 1, i.e., man's coming short of spiritual perfection. In any case, therefore, it has to do with man; it is the number of imperfection; the human number; the number of MAN as destitute of God, without God, without Christ".

1ST USAGE:

John 3:20
For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved.

OTHER USAGES:

John 5:29
And shall come forth; they that have done good, unto the resurrection of life; and they that have done evil, unto the resurrection of damnation.

Romans 9:11
(For the children being not yet born, neither having done any good or evil, that the purpose of God according to election might stand, not of works, but of him that calleth;)

II Corinthians 5:10
For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ; that every one may receive the things done in his body, according to that he hath done, whether it be good or bad.

Titus 2:8
Sound speech, that cannot be condemned; that he that is of the contrary part may be ashamed, having no evil thing to say of you.

James 3:16
For where envying and strife is, there is confusion and every evil work.
